When should you bring a builder into the process?
Before the plans and major selections are complete. Early builder involvement lets the team evaluate site conditions, constructability, decision timing and cost implications while the design can still adapt. The goal is a coordinated path through the project, with clear assumptions and unresolved questions.
1. Private discovery: define what the home needs to solve
We begin with the life behind the project: where you are considering building, how your family gathers, which spaces need privacy and what your current home no longer solves. Bring your location, land status, project stage and priorities. This is a fit conversation about the project, property and right next step.
2. Land and preconstruction: make permanent decisions first
Before architecture is locked, review access, slope, drainage, utilities, setbacks, orientation, privacy, views and site conditions. Preconstruction brings the owner, design team, engineering, interiors and builder around shared scope, cost and schedule assumptions. Site investigation and construction can still uncover unknown conditions.
3. Architecture and interiors: coordinate one home
Carson leads construction and project alignment. Hillary and DZYN Fusion Studio bring interior planning into the build conversation, so cabinetry, lighting, materials, proportions and installation requirements can be considered while plans are developing. Consequential choices belong in the right order.
4. Construction: see progress without managing the job
DZYN coordinates architects, engineers, designers and trade partners while providing visibility into schedule, timing, decisions and progress. Weekly communication during construction helps you understand what is happening and what is needed next.
5. Completion and care: carry decisions through the finish
Walkthroughs, completion items, selections documentation and home-care information help carry the project through move-in. Confirm warranty coverage and obligations in your signed agreement.

Custom home planning questions
What happens before construction begins?
Review the site, lifestyle priorities, design direction, engineering needs, major scope, selection timing, pricing basis and schedule assumptions. Document what is known and what still needs investigation.
How does interior design stay aligned with construction?
Coordinate cabinetry, lighting, materials, fixtures and installation details with the architectural and construction sequence while those choices can still influence the plan.
What if I already have an architect or home designer?
Bring your existing plans and team to discovery. We will discuss coordination, responsibilities and the appropriate next step for your project.
What should I bring to the first conversation?
Your proposed location, whether you own land, the current project stage, approximate timing and the ways you want the home to support your life. Plans and inspiration are useful if you have them.
